I went to the first show I've been to in MONTHS last night, and it was a welcome reprieve from work and study. The New Pornographers are a Canadian band (from Vancouver) in the indie-vein of sound. It was the first time I'd been to the venue, the San Francisco Bathhouse, which is a great little club. The opener was crap - I didn't catch his name but it was a welcome relief when the main show came on. I'd forgotten how much I need live music to decompress - I'm going to have to institute a one show every month quota, I think. Anyway, here's a youtube video to give you a taste for the flavor of awesome I experienced last night.
It would've been perfect if Neko Case had been singing along, but the band definitely doesn't need her accompaniment to rock out.
And while there I saw a flier announcing that THE MOUNTAIN GOATS are coming! In December! One of my favorite bands! I am so excited!!!! So here's some of that too:
Thank God for live music and its sweet sweet release.
