I haven't forgotten you, Chaz!

Ironically as my work in the lab has picked up my blog has been less and less about evolutionary biology. Some might say that it because after a full day/weekend of working one might want to escape into something different.

Upon reflection, some might be right.

But! I have really enjoyed a series that was on hosted by Olivia Judson that explained why GMOs aren't as scary as they are made out to be, called Animal Pharm. It was absolutely brilliant. I tried to find it on youtube to share with you, friends and relations, but could only find segments of Judson's BBC series on sex and evolution, "Dr. Tatiana's Sex Advice to All Creation". This segment opens with an interview with Alan Dixson, who I just worked with here at Vic during a workshop on sexual selection in humans. Some feminist undergraduates really take issue with the concept of sexual selection in humans (sorry - women on average are by the numbers physically weaker). Beyond the acrimony, many of us use long-winded academic discussions on sexual selection as a good excuse to talk about sex at length and ponder questions like "How attractive are beards? and "Is a handful enough?" (except stated more academically). And many thanks to Charles Darwin for getting that ball rolling. Enjoy!
