Some workmates were paddling on a team in the dragon boat festival this weekend. I took some silent video of the races, experimenting with my digital camera. Maybe eventually I'll grab a paddle and join in - it's plenty fun to be a spectator, though, especially on such a beautiful day.
Current Project
I'm studying the contemporary evolution of spawning time and population genetics of rainbow trout at Lake Taupo. The hope is that my study will eventually culminate in some insight into salmonids ability to rapidly adapt to changes in their environment.

This is lovely! I didn't know Wellington had Dragon boat festival. Usually, Chinese held dragon boat racings on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month to celebrate the coming of the summer.
